I am a huge fan of Winslow Homer watercolor paintings. My Mom had bought me one of those little traveling watercolor kits. I looked at his painting called the Adirondack Guide and painted this. When you are learning how to draw or paint it can be helpful to look at how artists have used different materials or approaches. I was able to see how he set up his values, his colors and how he places the figure within the piece. As an Instructor now, I have students research an artist style and try it out as well. It has been great to see how they challenge themselves in different ways.
